Schmidt swaps Aviva for Argo
Axel Schmidt appointed group chief underwriting officer.
Argo Group has appointed Axel Schmidt as group chief underwriting officer to succeed Andrew Carrier who will be leaving this summer for personal reasons.
Schmidt joins the international underwriter of specialty insurance and reinsurance products from Aviva where he served as chief underwriting officer for its UK and Ireland business across personal, commercial and corporate and specialty lines.
He was also responsible for Aviva's group-wide underwriting, pricing, products and claims strategy.
