Fitch welcomes findings of RSA review

Ratings agency positive around issues in Ireland but ratings watch remains negative.

Fitch Ratings has confirmed that it views the findings of the external review of RSA's Irish business by PwC "positively" but kept the insurer on negative watch.

In particular it noted that the review confirmed that financial and claims irregularities identified in late 2013 were isolated to Ireland.

Fitch also stated that assurance testing carried out by the current auditor, KPMG, reinforced its view that "underwriting controls and management of operations at the wider group level remain solid"

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
