SSP owner's purchase of Applied Systems sparks debate

Applied Systems insists no changes planned after deal.

The acquisition of Applied Systems by SSP's owners, private investment firm Hellman & Friedman (H&F), has ignited speculation about a potential software house merger.

James Sharp, director, TEn Insurance Services, said: "If I were H&F I would be asking why I would have two competing software houses when I can bring them together?

"It would seem like the most likely thing to go ahead in the coming together."
