Government excludes SMEs from Flood Re

SMEs and charities will not be covered under legislation.

The government has confirmed that SMEs will not be covered under new laws as it published its response to the consultation process on flood insurance.

The consultation, Securing the future availability and affordability of home insurance in areas of flood risk, received 149 responses.

"The consultation concluded that there is currently insufficient evidence to justify government intervention in the market's provision of property insurance cover for small businesses," stated the report.

Aviva doubling down for customers, says Martin
