RSA UK posts 3% net written premium rise

Insurer reports robust commercial and personal lines nine-month performance in the UK.

RSA UK saw its net written premiums edge up 3% to £2.3bn for the first nine months of the year as the insurer reiterated its "continuing focus on underwriting profit over volume".

The provider reported that total commercial net premiums crept up 3% to £1.3bn compared to the same period in 2012, helped by strong motor (13%) and marine (8%) growth.

Personal lines net written premiums slipped 1% to £993m from £1bn for the nine-month period with motor and pet recording nety written premium declines
