Brokers bemused by new Aviva CEO appointment

Brokers have responded with bemusement at the appointment of Maurice Tulloch as the new chief executive officer at Aviva for UK & Ireland general insurance.

Clive Galbraith, chairman of Green Insurance Group, told Insurance Age he was surprised at the departure of Mr Spencer, who has only been in the role since July 2012 and admitted he had never heard of Maurice Tulloch.

"To be fair he has probably never heard of me either," stated Galbraith.

As for the challenges facing Tulloch - previously CEO of Aviva Canada - Galbraith described them as "legion".
