Ex-Aviva PI team members launch new MGA

Members of the former Aviva SME professional indemnity (PI) team have launched managing general agency (MGA) Pinpoint Underwriting.

The MGA is set to offer PI insurance via brokers for SME businesses and has emerged on the back of Aviva's decision to withdraw from SME PI in May.

The business - which will be led by former Aviva senior underwriter Scott Ruff - has earmarked offering PI to accountants, architects, engineers, insurance brokers and surveyors, among other professions.

Based in Perth, Scotland, Pinpoint said it had access to "significant" capacity from A-rated insurance markets and will distribute its policies

Aviva doubling down for customers, says Martin

Aviva is committed to pushing on with an “absolute focus on customer” and will continue “doubling down”, David Martin, managing director for UK commercial and chief distribution officer, told Insurance Age as he teased a “major new proposition” pencilled in for the end of the third quarter will catch brokers’ eyes.
