General Legal Protection launches landlord rent guarantee product

General Legal Protection has unveiled a new landlord rent guarantee insurance offering.

The product, designed specifically for the letting agent market, can pay up to £25,000 for rent arrears and £25,000 for legal expenses.

It also offers an upfront free express tenant referencing system to reduce the chances of renting to a risky tenant.

André Scruton, managing director of General Legal Protection, cited figures from the National Landlords Association which revealed that 49% of landlords have experienced rental arrears in the last year.

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
