Teradata Universe 2013: Consumers more 'data-aware'

Consumers are becoming more ‘data-aware', delegates were told at the Teradata Universe 2013 conference.

Eric Brynjolfsson, director of the MIT Center for Digital Business, told the audience at a panel discussion on the subject of big data, that customers were becoming more defensive around the data they produce.

Using insurance as an example, Mr Brynjolfsson said consumers purchasing health insurance were beginning to realise that, given that providers might have access to their social media and banking details, it "might be a good idea to pay for your fast food with cash" and tweet frequently
