PPI cold-calling company ordered to pay £1,000
A payment protection insurance (PPI) cold-calling company has been instructed to pay £1,000 to a man called more than 90 times in two months.
The Telegraph reported that Steve Higgins, 38, from Nottingham, took Synergy Leads to court following repeated calls insisting he was eligible for a PPI mis-selling claim.
Mr Higgins, invoiced the company £10 per call for wasting his time as he was not entitled to a PPI refund.
It came after he gathered evidence from his landline provider, Talk Talk. Mr Higgins and his wife Gemma, 27, were found to have answered 94 calls during October and November last year.
