PPI claims handling creates 20,000 jobs

The handling of payment protection insurance (PPI) mis-selling claims has led to the creation of 20,000 new UK jobs.

According to Manpower Group’s 2013 Employment Outlook Survey, these jobs have been created by “the big banks alone” for the sole purpose of servicing PPI claims.

The employment group stated that this figure did not include the posts created by claims management companies.

Mark Cahill, UK managing director at Manpower, commented: “Despite attempts to put a lid on the amount that the banks pay out on PPI, within the last month alone, we have seen big names like Barclays and Lloyds massively raise
