UK Broker Summit 2013: The recession is over, delegates told
Delegates were welcomed to this year’s UK Broker Summit with the news that the recession is over.
Dennis Turner, former chief economist at HSBC, told attendees at the Insurance Age-hosted event: “Any way you want to define it the recession has ended.”
However, he continued to outline further “more frightening” issues still facing the UK economy.
“Inflation rates have taken purchasing power away from the consumer,” he stated.
“We have a very frugal and restrained consumer sector so growth isn’t coming from that sector.”
