Ecclesiastical abandons relocation plans
Ecclesiastical has halted plans to relocate its head office to a new site in Gloucester Docks due to the “continuing challenging economic environment”.
The insurer has terminated its agreement with Gloucester City Council to build the new headquarters, and said part of the reason for doing so was due an unsuccessful bid to find a viable funding proposal for the project.
The provider said it had already racked up “significant costs” in excess of £1m.
Steve Wood, UK managing director for Ecclesiastical, described the cancellation as very disappointing.
