April appoints broker development manager

April UK has appointed Duncan Craig as broker development manager as part of what the firm called an ambitious expansion programme across the UK.

The protection and health insurance company recently revealed a new department servicing brokers based at its headquarters in Bristol as it targeted £4m of new private medical insurance (PMI) sales through brokers in 2013.

Mr Craig has previously worked for Bupa, Axa PPP and Aetna and has over 20 years' PMI experience in the health insurance sector.

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
