Tesco takes McCauley from Zurich as underwriting chief

Darren McCauley has been appointed as the new chief underwriting officer at Tesco Underwriting.

He joins from Zurich Insurance, where he is currently director of personal lines, pricing and underwriting.

In his new role, Mr McCauley will be responsible for leading the underwriting, pricing and anti-fraud strategies for the motor and home insurance provider. He will also join the Tesco Underwriting Board.

Mr McCauley brings with him over 17 years of industry experience and will take up his new position later this year.

Geoff Carter, chief executive officer at Tesco Underwriting, said:

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
