R&Q launches new Lloyd's syndicate

Randall & Quilter Investment Holdings (R&Q) has launched a new Lloyd’s syndicate through its subsidiary R&Q Managing Agency.

Syndicate 1991 is to commence underwriting from 1 January 2013, and will be underwritten by Daniel Wright and Steve Mitchell, both formerly of Axis Capital.

The syndicate will have capacity of £77m for 2013, 20% of which will be provided by R&Q, with Scor and XL proving around 15% each. The balance will be supported by private members.

R&Q stated that the syndicate’s focus will be on writing SME and niche personal line property and associated liability business through a number of specialist MGA

Aviva doubling down for customers, says Martin

Aviva is committed to pushing on with an “absolute focus on customer” and will continue “doubling down”, David Martin, managing director for UK commercial and chief distribution officer, told Insurance Age as he teased a “major new proposition” pencilled in for the end of the third quarter will catch brokers’ eyes.
