Hastings Insurance Services has created two new posts by appointing Paul Whymark as its new operations director and Jonathan Sutcliffe as its new claims director.

Mr Whymark previously held the role of head of affinity operations at RSA, and has also worked at RBS, Churchill and Bupa.

He will report directly to Toby van der Meer, managing director of Hastings Retail.

Mr van der Meer said: “Paul brings a wealth of experience and a real passion for delivering great straightforward customer service through people.

“We’re excited to have him on board as we continue our growth story and shake up the industry by offering consumers better deals.”

Mr Sutcliffe joins the company from Ace’s Paris office where he was claims director for Continental Europe. He has also held roles at Fusion Insurance Services and Zurich.

Mr Sutcliffe will be reporting to Michael Lee, managing director, insurer services.

Mr Lee said: “We are delighted Jonathan is joining the team, he is adept at building large claims operations which dovetails neatly with our future growth plans.

“I look forward to working with him as we take Hastings on its journey to become a leading household name provider of insurance services.”
