UK General has signed six new commercial schemes as the insurer continues its portfolio expansion.

Speaking to Insurance Age, Tony Bloomer, head of commercial schemes at the Leeds-based specialist insurer, said the new additions were worth in the "millions area".

He explained that UK General was making "strong progress" towards its target of reaching 500 schemes over the next year.

The six new schemes trade in the leisure sector, opticians, property owners and the catering market.

Among the brokers with whom the deals have been secured are GJ Sladdin, Crownsway and Prestige Insurance.
