MMA moves to strengthen regional focus

MMA Insurance has appointed Gary Clayton as senior motor trade underwriter with a remit for the south of the UK while Paul Atkinson has been promoted to the same role for the north of the country.

The insurer stated the two moves were part of its regional trading focus within its commercial division.

Mr Clayton joins from QBE and will be based in the provider's Chelmsford office while Mr Atkinson will be situated in Manchester. Both will look to support the underwriting and business development teams across their respective offices and will be tasked with developing new and existing broker relationships.

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
