Homeserve has reportedly rejected a private equity approach from groups Cinven, KKR and Apax.

The Daily Telegraph has reported that Richard Harpin, chief executive of the home repair and insurance firm, was contacted by potential buyers about opening talks around a deal.

However, the company is believed to have turned this proposal down when it was taken to board level.

Homeserve responded to the reports in a statement to the London Stock Exchange, saying that "it has not, nor is currently, engaged in any discussions which could lead to a possible offer for the company".
