MASS "disappointed" by bodily injury claims findings

The survey, released today, blamed claims management companies (CMCs) for the "staggering" increase in bodily injury accidents between 2010 and 2011.

The report revealed there had been an 18% increase in the proportion of such accidents - costing the insurance industry an extra £400m.

And MASS chair Donna Scully hit out at the rising numbers, citing that they came despite an 11% decline in accidents giving rise to third party claims.

She said: "We agree that unprecedented activity by some CMCs
