Hemel-based broker snaps up book from local rival

Hemel Hempstead-based broker Advanced Insurance Consultants (AIC) has acquired the book of business from ALH Insurance, for an undisclosed sum.

Along with the business, which is mainly personal lines, five staff from ALH - also based in Hemel - will join AIC.

According to Barry Abrams, underwriting director at AIC, the broker may merge into ALH’s premises at some stage in the future.

Mr Abrams said the firm had acquired ALH’s book as it tied in well with some of the business AIC carries out.

He explained: “We are mainly in commercial lines but this is a good chance for cross-selling and further growth.”

Applied updates on commercial push

Applied Systems has confirmed Arch Insurance is about to enter the pilot phase of onboarding and will be live on the Applied Epic broker management system in April, with Iprism and Ark to follow and more promised in 2024.
