Travelers and Esure in talks over potential deal

Travelers has been holding preliminary talks about buying a stake in Esure.

Mark Kleinman, City editor at Sky News, has reported in his blog that the US insurance company has held discussions with Peter Wood, founder and chairman of the UK home and motor insurer, about the purchase of a minority stake in the company.

According to Mr Kleinman, Mr Wood and Jay Fishman, chairman and chief executive of Travelers, “know each other well from the Briton's successful ventures in the US”.

Esure declined to comment.
