Over 95% of East Midlands businesses are underinsured

Businesses across the East Midlands are running the risk of "financial disaster" due to insufficient insurance cover, a report published today has warned.

Some 96% of commercial premises - including factories, workshops, warehouses, offices, shops and hotels - are lacking adequate cover, according to a survey by Barrett Corp & Harrington.

The insurance valuers estimate that firms need to boost their spending on insurance protection by an average of 73% to ensure they are fully protected.

Barrett Corp & Harrington director, Roger Corp, described the issue of underinsurance as a "major issue in the UK".
