Axa swoops for Zurich personal lines broker chief

Axa Personal Lines has appointed Gareth Howell as its new product household director.

Mr Howell has joined from Zurich Financial Services where he was most recently director of personal lines broker responsible for shaping the overall strategic direction for all personal lines distribution channels.

Prior to that he was head of pricing and product management at the insurer.

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
