Axa Commercial Lines claims first with Underwriting Academy

Axa Commercial Lines has launched an Underwriting Academy in partnership with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

Axa claimed it was the first insurer to launch a joint-badged academy with the CII on the new Insurance Access platform.

David Williams, claims and underwriting director at Axa Commercial Lines, said: “Our intention is clear; we want the majority of decisions to be made in the branches by the people closest to our customers.

"Developing our underwriters through the new Underwriting Academy is a major step on the road to achieving this.”

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
