Axa details new products in e-traded Simple range

A hand on a computer keyboard

Axa has launched six new products in the first wave of its multi-channel distribution strategy for brokers.

The first four new products in the Simple range are: tradesmen, professionals, directors' and officers' and landlords' insurance.

The insurer claimed that it had developed the new products specifically to be traded online and accused other insurers of having "shoe-horned existing products into online platforms".

The provider stated that each product provided core cover for SMEs that was competitively priced with the option to add on extras for flexibility.

It listed the benefits as including clear and simple documentation in easy to send electronic format, that the system was quick and simple to use and that the standard question sets and fully auto rated products had minimum referral triggers.

Axa has also released its first Complex products: new contractors combined insurance and business combined insurance with both available on all new policies transacted through its branch network.

Flexible limits
Matthew Reed, managing director intermediary for Axa Commercial, said: "We've listened to our brokers and as a result we've changed our channels, our products and our processes to make it easier for them to compete.

"They told us that most e-traded products are traditional policies elbowed online making it frustrating to get the right cover quickly, so we've taken a different approach.

"We've gone back to the drawing board and specifically designed our Simple products for e-trading."

The insurer has also committed to launching a further 10 new e-commerce designed products by the end of 2012 and plans to develop further products for the Simple platform next year.
