Barclays' general insurance complaints double
Barclays has reported an increase in general insurance complaints, from 59,003 in the second half of 2010 to 122,992 in the second half of 2011.
The bank reported that if complaints relating to general insurance, the majority of which concerned the mis-selling of payment protection insurance (PPI), were excluded, total complaints would have been reduced by 11% from 177,871 in H1 2011 to 158,492 in H2 2011.
However, when general insurance complaints were factored in, the total number of complaints rose by 12%.
