Marsh reports increase in revenue and profit

Marsh & McLennan Companies, parent company of broking giant Marsh, has reported a 9.3% increase in total revenue to $11.53bn (£7.35bn) for 2011 from $10.55bn in 2010.

The results came as the company revealed an increase in final quarter revenue to $2.91bn from $2.79 in the last three months of 2010.

The group's profits were also up at $256m for the fourth quarter (2010 Q4: $203m) and $993m for the full year (2010: $855m).

For Marsh alone revenue rose 6% to $1.37bn in the final quarter of 2010 with the Europe, Middle East and Africa division reporting a 3% rise to $433m. For the full year Marsh's revenue increased 10% to $5.21bn.
