Two senior players leave Gallagher Heath for rival Bluefin

Bluefin has snapped up two senior brokers from rival firm Gallagher Heath.

Rita Thorpe, who left Bluefin in 2010 to become a director at what was then Heath Lambert, has returned to take up the role of projects director. Mike Owen, formerly MD of commercial affinity at Gallagher Heath, has also joined Bluefin as head of schemes and affinities.

Bluefin CEO, Stuart Reid, commented: “Rita is a vastly experienced and technically skilled broker who we were sorry to lose and are delighted to welcome back to the group after a short absence.

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
