Axa warns of home insurance claims surge

Home insurance claims are set to rise in the coming year due to the increased number of events taking place this summer, according to research conducted by Axa Personal Lines.

The Olympics, Euro 2012 and the Diamond Jubilee will mean a surge in the number of people holding events in their own homes, and claims data from Axa shows that family get-togethers and parties increases accidental damage and losses. For example, on New Year’s Day 2011 the insurer experienced a 78% increase in losses.

Axa also warned that clever burglars would be aware of when homes will be empty.

Applied updates on commercial push
