JLT snaps up Irish broker

Jardine Lloyd Thompson’s (JLT) Irish arm has acquired FBD Insurance Brokers, an insurance broker based in Ireland in a deal worth up to €8.5m (£7.1m).

As part of this transaction JLT has also acquired FBD Risk Management Services and International Loss Control Services.

JLT said that the businesses of FBD Brokers would be integrated with the existing business of JLT Ireland.

FBD Brokers was established in 1973 by FBD Holdings to manage the commercial insurance needs of large commercial and corporate clients.

ALA expands range with pothole insurance

Yorkshire-based GAP insurance provider ALA Insurance has expanded its product offering with the launch of a specialist pothole insurance policy, in a move it claimed targets one of the “more persistent and costly problems facing UK motorists”.
