XL takes Allianz man to bolster Midlands operation

XL Group has made a new appointment to strengthen its Midlands underwriting team.

Robert Dawes has been appointed as property/casualty package underwriter, middle markets, Midlands.

Mr Dawes has over ten years of underwriting and broking experience with a focus on SMEs and larger corporate risks.

He joins from Allianz where his most recent role was business developer with responsibility for the development and growth of the property and casualty business in the Midlands area.

Aviva to open US commercial lines branch in New York

Aviva is setting up an onshore surplus lines business in the US, based in New York City, with a target of starting to trade in the second quarter of this year in a move it claimed will strengthen its proposition for brokers and clients.
