OFT: consumers can improve professional services sector

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has made recommendations designed to improve the professional services market and driving consumer choice.

Speaking at a recent breakfast roundtable hosted by the OFT, Philip Collins, chairman, said the OFT needs to establish a policy agenda that will put consumers in a better position to assess and compare quality and prices across the professional services sector.

Mr Collins said consumers have an appetite to compare services and exercised choice, and that publishing complains data could be effective as a “consumer empowerment tool”.
