Towergate kicks off acquisition spree with modest purchase

Towergate Insurance has purchased Tunbridge Wells-based BWA (Insurance Services) for an undisclosed sum.

The broker, formed in 1989 and believed to command £1-2m in GWP in both commercial and personal lines, has relocated to Towergate Insurance in Sevenoaks with all staff retained.

BWA (Financial Services) has remained in Tunbridge Wells trading as a separate business.

Jonathan Walker, CEO of Towergate Retail commented: "This is the first of what we hope will be many acquisitions in the South East of England and it brings a significant and reputable broking team into our business.

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
