HomecallPlus enters liquidation
HomecallPlus, supplier of emergency cover for homeowners and landlords, has gone into liquidation with confusion surrounding whether any policies issued in the last six months were backed by an underwriter.
The Blackburn-based company began trading in 2007 offering cover for the likes of emergency heating and plumbing.
A source close to the company told Insurance Age, "They were very ambitious in their plans and had grandiose visions of being the next British Gas. I was personally very uneasy about their ability to see projects through. It all appeared to be pie in the sky."
Brit Insurance has confirmed they ceased to back the product towards the end of 2010. A spokeswoman for the insurer said:
