Mitsui Sumitomo confirms Chubb raid as it moves into Ireland

Mitsui Sumitomo at Lloyd’s has confirmed that it is to establish branches in Dublin and Belfast as part of its expansion plans.

The new operation will be headed by Ireland managing director, Alan Shiel. He was previously Ireland country manager at Chubb.

Joining him from Chubb are Cormac McNamara, who has been appointed as underwriting manager (Ireland), Greg Wilde, who will underwrite business in Northern Ireland and Scotland and David Jenkins, who joins as claims and risk engineering manager.

The provider said the team will build the Mitsui Sumitomo brand in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Applied updates on commercial push

Applied Systems has confirmed Arch Insurance is about to enter the pilot phase of onboarding and will be live on the Applied Epic broker management system in April, with Iprism and Ark to follow and more promised in 2024.
