Roger Carr appointed president of CBI

Roger Carr is to succeed Incisive Media’s non-executive chairman, Helen Alexander, as president of the Confederation of British Industry. Mrs Alexander has been in the role since 2009 and Mr Carr will take up the post at the end of her term of office in June 2011.

He will become deputy president in January 2011 and members will be asked to endorse his appointment as president at the AGM.

Mrs Alexander commented: "I am delighted that Roger Carr is joining the CBI team. His extensive experience as chief executive and chairman of some of the UK's most successful companies make him a great choice for the role of president.

"Roger Carr and John Cridland will be a formidable partnership. They will ensure that the voice of business and the concerns of members
