German giant linked to Quinn Insurance bid

German insurance giant Talanx has become the latest name linked with a bid for Quinn Insurance.

It follows reports in the Sunday Tribune that speculation is mounting that Talanx is about to enter the Irish general insurance market under the HDI Gerling brand.

It reported that insurance industry sources claim the company is awaiting authorisation from the Financial Regulator.

And another told the Tribune HDI Gerling was a potential consolidator in the market and could be a better fit for Quinn Insurance than other companies rumoured to be interested, such as Liberty Mutual or Finland's
