Gordon Brown to quit
Gordon Brown has announced that he intends to stand down as Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party by the time of the Labour Party Conference in the Autumn.
He has also announced that he intends to start formal discussions with the Liberal Democrats, at the request of the Liberal Democrats, and while he will be involved in the process, he intends to play no part as leader of a coalition.
