Axa Insurance has made a number of specialist appointments as part of a £200m business development drive to grow its small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) and mid-corporate business.

In order to strengthen its SME offering, the insurer has created a new financial lines unit that will develop a suite of management liability and professional indemnity products over the course of the coming year.

Callum Taylor, who previously worked at Hiscox, has been appointed to the new role of head of management liability while Dominic Guest, who joins from Beazley, has become head of professional indemnity insurance.

Axa has stated its intention to refresh its entire SME product portfolio
