EA: consumer action to combat flooding should be remunerated

The Environment Agency (EA) is calling on the insurance industry to acknowledge, in their premiums and excesses, the positive actions some people take to make their homes more resistant to and resilient against flooding, in order to further encourage others to adopt similar measures.

In its recently published Long Term Investment Strategy, the EA reported that one in six properties in England and Wales were at risk of flooding just after the publication of the latest UK climate change
