MP's call on government to step up campaign against uninsured drivers

MP's are due to call on the government to introduce legislation requiring tax disc style proof of insurance to be displayed in car windscreens to help combat uninsured driving.

An early day motion by David Crausby MP for Bolton North East, Helen Jones, MP for Warrington North and Lindsay Hoyle MP for Chorley, is being brought in an attempt to combat the problems caused by drivers of cars involved in road traffic accidents who do not have insurance cover.

In a statement the trio said: "This could be monitored in the same way as car tax violation, would safeguard people involved in car accidents, and help reduce the spiralling cost of car insurance."
