Brit Insurance has reported a 10.5% rise in gross written premiums (GWP) to 1.12bn for the 2008 financial year. The insurer's UK book saw the strongest GWP increase, rising to £262m from £228m the previous year. However, it also reported overall insurance pricing for renewal business decreased nearly 2% and it estimated £97m in losses from hurricanes Gustav and Ike, which struck the US in September.
