The performance of the financial services sector has faltered, with business volumes, profitability and confidence all falling for the first time in 18 months. The latest quarterly survey of the industry, published by the CBI and PricewaterhouseCoopers, also showed that the average costs per transaction increased over the past three months at the fastest rate for nine years. Of those surveyed, 44% of firms said business volumes were down over the past quarter and 26% said they were up. The
