'We're taking no action; that'll cost you £360', FOS tells broker

The funding for the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has again been called into question after a broker was charged £360 for the investigation of a case that the FOS eventually said was outside its jurisdiction.

Barry Fehler, managing director at South Essex Insurance Brokers paid the case fee, which totalled nearly £400 with the basic fee included. But Mr Fehler said he thought the fee was "a little excessive and unfair", and he recruited the help of colleague Mick Slack, chairman of the Fyfe
