Acquisitional broking group Vega Insurance Services has acquired Birmingham-based Thompson Rudd Group. It will continue to operate under its own brand and all staff and management have been retained to continue to develop the business. Founder Paul Thompson will continue as managing director and co-director Paul Fieldhouse will also continue in his current role. Thompson Rudd has a premium income of £12m and specialises in commercial insurance.

Broking profits fall at Saga

Underlying profit before tax in Saga’s insurance broking arm fell to £39.8m for the year ended 31 January 2024, compared with £71.5m in the previous period.
