S&C seal £25m deal
• Smart and Cook (S&C) announced the purchase of Northampton-based £25m premium broker Hammon Osborne, one of its largest acquisitions to date. Paul Meehan, S&C ceo, said the move would push the firm's gross premium income above the £200m mark for the first time, with revenues topping £30m. Meanwhile, following its acquisition last year of Halifax Bank of Scotland's (HBOS) commercial broking division, S&C opened a new Leeds office housing 50 of its own and ex-HBOS staff.
