- Lloyd's broker Glencairn has appointed Mark Palmer and Gary Tyler to its specialist risk division. Mark is an associate partner in the division and will be involved in production and placement of political risk and trade credit transactions. Gary will be working alongside the recently appointed Darren Norris to strengthen the marine cargo initiative.

- Mark Wood has been made managing director of the Broker Network and promoted to the board of Broker Network Holdings. Mark has been working for the network since November 2004 as director of insurer relations. Meanwhile, Martyn Denney and Elizabeth Mills have been promoted to directors of Broker Network, and Martyn has also been made a director of the group's London broking operation.

- Marsh has made Patrick Mina head of international client and market services. In the newly created position, Patrick's role will be to identify and deliver a best practice servicing model for Marsh across the Europe and Middle East and the international speciality operations regions. Marsh has also promoted Jane Shelmerdine to sales and service leader of its corporate client practice (CCP) in the Leeds office. Jane will be responsible for managing the sales and service strategy for CCP in Leeds, which will include strengthening Marsh's proposition to the food, beverage and technology sectors in the area.

- Aon has appointed Rupert Beckett director of its marine division's yacht team, in order to challenge key players in the market through a new business strategy. Rupert has more than 16 years' broking and underwriting experience in the London hull market and has specialised in yacht insurance for the past five years.

- Sharon Riettie has been appointed to Oval's credit division. Sharon was previously a senior member of the broking team at Aon Trade Credit, and is an accredited Financial Services Authority training and competence supervisor.

- Keelan Westall, the Hampshire-based commercial property insurance broker, has appointed Nick Crocker as chairman. Nick was previously group managing director at Towergate Underwriting, and prior to that as director of commercial lines at London and Edinburgh Insurance Company.

- DTE Insurance has appointed Nick Green as business development director and Lesley Cooper as account executive. Nick will be responsible for developing corporate business opportunities for the firm, focusing on strategies for new and existing clients. Lesley has 28 years of insurance experience, and joined from Whitefield-based broker Stuart Alexander.

- Bennetts, the motorcycle broker, has appointed Kal Samra as director. Kal was previously senior marketing manager and associate director at Bennetts, and will aim to drive the development of the business and deliver its strategic objectives through enhanced product offerings.

Insurers/underwriters

- Adrian Harling has been made chief financial officer at PBS Holdings. Adrian has held a number of senior insurance industry posts and will assist in the growth of PBS through acquisition and expansion of its existing underwriting business.

- David Pye has been appointed to the board of Hastings Insurance Services as a non-executive director. David has more than 35 years' insurance experience, having previously run the general insurance business of Pearl Assurance.

- David Evans has been made managing director of the London-based operations of ASU International, a subsidiary of HCC Insurance Holdings. David was previously an underwriter at Lloyd's syndicate RJ Kiln.

- MMA Insurance has appointed Paul Salter as motor underwriting manager. Paul will take on responsibility for the entire motor portfolio from 1 September. He joined MMA from Chaucer in March.

- Hiscox has handed control of its global markets professional indemnity account at Lloyd's to Ed Cruttenden, who has been at Hiscox since 1998.

- UnumProvident has made Phil Evans director of management services, and Paul Restall director of customer services; both come from Norwich Union Life. Phil will be based at UnumProvident's Bristol offices, where he will assume the role of 'site head', providing a focal point for Bristol-specific issues. Paul will undertake a similar 'site head' role, but will be based at UnumProvident House, the new Basingstoke office which replaced two smaller offices in the town.

- Mondial UK has appointed Nick Weston as a business development manager, supporting its corporate and travel division. Nick joins Mondial after five years at employee benefits company Accor Services, where he was responsible for clients in the City.

- Fusion Insurance has promoted Martin Sidebottom to the position of risk control surveyor. Martin has more than four years' experience in insurance, and prior to Fusion he worked at NFU and Axa Sun Life. Martin will work alongside 20 other risk control surveyors and managers and will report to Gary Duncombe, regional risk control manager.

- Legal expenses insurance provider Arc Legal Assistance has made Rebecca Conway claims manager. Rebecca will be responsible for the operation and management of the claims process for all of Arc's business, and will liaise with solicitors and work with customers on all parts of the claims process.

- Premium Finance Finsure has made Trevor Brittain its new managing director. Trevor will be responsible for setting Finsure's strategic direction and achieving the business plan and financial performance requirements of the company. He was most recently head of business development for NIG's personal lines national brokers.

- Law Commercial law firm Hill Dickinson has appointed Finbar Cahill and Marise Gellert as partners at its London insurance practice. Finbar, formerly a partner at Henmans Solicitors, has more than 13 years' general insurance experience, specialising in employer's liability and serious/fatal RTAs, and will focus on high value claims in professional indemnity. Marise has been with Hill Dickinson for four years, and specialises in recovery actions and acts for insurers exercising rights of subrogation.

- Adjusters Argent Liability Adjusters has recruited David Clough as a senior adjuster at its Leicester office. David joins from Crawford and Company, where he was the liability branch manager in Nottingham, and has extensive experience across the full spectrum of liability adjusting.

- MYI QuestGates, the provider of technical loss adjusting services, has appointed Philip Austin as director of fine art, specie and high net worth. Philip has nearly 20 years' experience in the adjustment of fine art, jewellers block and high net worth claims, and is a Fellow of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers.

- The Claims People Group has appointed Dominic Boyce as group financial director. Dominic was previously group financial controller, as well as finance director of the group's principal subsidiary The Claims People; prior to that he was finance manager at Alwen Hough Johnson, Lloyd's reinsurance brokerage.
