The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) has confirmed it will change its charging structure for investigating complaints against brokers, after it came in for stinging criticism over recent months. The FOS looks set to put in place a new model by autumn 2007 under which the case fee would be set each year at a rate equivalent to the cost per case.

Speaking to Insurance Age in the run up to the 31 July consultation deadline, Adrian Dally, senior policy advisor at the FOS, said there was a unanimous
